9th January: I realise that I can do somewhat more with these vocal chords than just yell all the time. Whilst this latter operation does tend to result in food - an response I am heartily in favour of - it does appear to be a waste of a suprisingly subtle method of communication. I attempt to communicate this discovery to Mum & Dad but all that comes out is a rather tentative "cooing" sound. Obviously the more intricate vocal skills take far more practice than I first thought. Mum and Dad, however, greet this rather poor attempt at civilised conversation with great joy and are immediately convinced that they have a genius on their hands. How easily they are pleased!
15th January: I try sleeping for a few hours, at night, in my own bed. Mum and Dad consider having a party to celebrate the occasion but are too damned tired to bother.
